About This Treatment
MIPH (also known as the Longo procedure or PPH — Procedure for Prolapse and Hemorrhoids) uses a specially designed circular stapler to remove a ring of excess tissue above the hemorrhoids and simultaneously lifts the prolapsed pile mass back into the anal canal.
Unlike conventional hemorrhoidectomy which removes the pile mass directly, MIPH works by cutting off the blood supply to the hemorrhoids and repositioning them above the dentate line (where there are fewer pain-sensitive nerve endings). This results in significantly less post-operative pain compared to traditional surgery.
MIPH is particularly effective for Grade 3 and Grade 4 prolapsing hemorrhoids and circumferential piles that are difficult to treat with laser alone.
Key Benefits
Less Post-Op Pain
The stapler operates above the dentate line where pain receptors are fewer — significantly less painful than traditional hemorrhoidectomy.
20-Minute Procedure
MIPH takes approximately 20–30 minutes under spinal or general anesthesia.
Anatomical Restoration
Lifts prolapsed hemorrhoids back to their natural position rather than just removing them.
